as if the vultures had come.

July 9, 2012

Picked clean-
as if the vultures had come,
leaving no fibers of hopes,
nor tendrils of dreams,
only bleached-white,
bones of phrases,
faded from exposure,
dry marrow of words,
stale of inspiration,
strewn about haphazardly,
lifeless waste and barren-
poetry, a corpse.
