came home with flowers.

November 19, 2012

What if today were the day,
he came home with flowers,
as the news declared,

World Peace in Middle East,
with no more empty bellies,
hungering for bread or for love,
while the neighbor was shoveling,
his dog’s shit,
back into his own front yard,
after you get the call back,
for that new career with blazers,
or high heels instead of uniforms,
when someone grabs you,
whispering into your neck,
thanking you for being you-
so hold on, because,
what if today were the day?

This would be a good day. Peace is a good word. I wished it was used more often with the leaders of the world. A beautiful and positive poem.

You wouldn’t know what to do.

Just like these people fighting for reasons they never knew: peace is more frightening than a cold deep grave.

    Get over yourself, Cheri.

say something to me.
