It wasn’t poetic promises,
or a textual fantasy,
complicated emails,
nor carrier pigeon,
smoke signals,
messages in bottles at sea-
he simply said to me:
You set my heart on fire,
looping his fingers,
through mine casually,
and went back to doing,
as he was doing,
sitting there right next to me.
