boiling frogs.

Humble, little heart,
you’ll learn to like bubbles,
as it slowly starts to simmer,
you’ll find warmth
in your troubles,
acclimating so steadily,
as the intensities rise,
you’ll learn to hesitate,
wilt and trivialize,
settled by the constant,
turmoiled suspense,
numbing your needs,
and instinctual sense,
you’ll learn to blister where
no one can see,
settling on the bottom,
to the highest degree.
